Conditional Booking

Freight space booking by the forwarder prior to fixing the date of shipment in order to make sure that during the booked period the freight rate is not increased. The conditional booking practically constitutes a unilateral binding of the carrier to a rate applicable for a certain period. It is not a confirmed booking; there is neither an obligation of the shipper to forward the goods nor an obligation of the shipowner to keep space available on a ship
